Everest Base Camp
Everest Base Camp Adventure: Follow in the Footsteps of Legends
The ULTIMATE trek of the world
TripCode: ANC08
You wander from the foothills to the actual foot of Mount Everest – through forests, open tundra, all the way to the foot of Mount Everest. Variation is the key word: Swinging bridges above raging rivers, ageless stone houses, the sound of Yak bells, picturesque temples and the ever present Buddhist prayer flags.
We will stay two nights at the Sherpa peoples capital, Namche Bazaar, to explore the back streets, and to acclimatize. Then we wander onward to Thyangboche monastery – The Gateway to the Khumbu – with its breath-taking panoramic view of Ama Dablam, Everest and Lhotse.
Yes, we follow the same path Edmund Hillary and Teznzing Norgay took, in 1945. They reached the summit of Everest, were our goal is Gorak Shep. Here you can imagine how they felt back then, surrounded by mysterious ridges, giant walls and snow-covered peaks. We too stand in awe of nature.
On reaching Gorak Shep, (5,170m/16,960ft), you may choose to ascend Kala Patthar (5,545m/18,192ft), and look directly at Nuptse and Everest herself. Or, continue to cross the glacier moraine and reach Base Camp (5,364/17,598ft).
